New Fund Launches
Chartwell Fund Management Open Ended Investment Company (OEIC)
18 September 2007 saw the launch of the Chartwell OEIC with 3 sub-funds. There is a choice of two growth funds and an income fund, which you can invest into. The exact split is up to you. All three funds are Multi Asset, meaning that they invest into the full range of asset classes, including equities, bonds, property, cash, structured products and alternatives (e.g. hedge funds and derivatives); the objective being to reduce risk and volatility, whilst providing the potential for consistent long term returns.
Chartwell Cautious Growth Fund
The Chartwell Cautious Growth Fund is managed by Berry Asset Management; with the aim that underlying assets invested by the manager produce returns in excess of cash by +2% over a three year period (cash rate used is LIBOR). The fund, therefore, aims to produce medium to long term returns, which are comparable with equities, but without the equivalent volatility. Established in 1981, Berry has over £300 million in assets under management, with a history of providing wealth management to private, high net worth individuals. Like most wealth managers, Berry has extensive experience of investing money along Multi Asset lines; and their remit has a bias towards protecting the potential for capital loss, whilst being positioned to benefit from a rising market in any particular asset class.
Chartwell Balanced Income Fund
The Chartwell Balanced Income Fund is managed by Midas Capital Partners and aims to provide a high level of growing income, together with capital growth over the medium to long term. Like the Cautious Growth Fund, the Balanced Income Fund looks to produce returns in excess of cash by +2% (cash rate used is LIBOR), however, first and foremost the fund‘s objective is to generate a gross income yield of 5.3%. Established in March 2002, Midas currently has over £1 billion in funds under management, using the same Multi Asset approach as they adopt for the Balanced Income Fund. Furthermore, the origin of the Midas investment approach goes back to their time managing the Merseyside Pension Fund for 10 years, prior to moving en masse to found Midas Capital Partners.
Chartwell Strategic Growth Fund
The Chartwell Strategic Growth Fund is manged by Credit Suisse Asset Management and aims to provide capital growth over the medium to long term from a Multi Asset and globally diversified portfolio. The fund targets a rate of return of cash +4% (cash rate used is LIBOR), with the managers making tactical decisions based on their analysis of current market trends in order to generate superior returns. The fund managers are based out of Canary Wharf and come from Credit Suisse‘s Private Banking arm. With a history going back to 1856 and over £650 billion in assets under management, Credit Suisse can call upon a truely global resourse of analysis and research.
