First State Asia Pacific Leaders
This fund is managed by Angus Tulloch with assistance from Alistair Thompson. The managers look to find companies that they believe offer good value in the mid and large cap arena. Asia is very much First State’s investment arena, being an arm of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia; they have a good deal of experience in Asian equity markets. The fund has no exposure to Japan and is typically fairly focused, having fewer than 60 stocks.

SG Japan CoreAlpha
Fund Manager, Stephen Harker, manages the SG Japan CoreAlpha fund in a defensive manner, in the sense that the fund invests in large cap Japanese stocks. Harker also takes a contrarian view of the Japanese stock market, in that he tries to remove exposure to what he sees as momentum trading on commodities and the China story. He is therefore positioned away from what the consensus view on Japan is, but, nonetheless manages to maintain what is a core Japanese fund.
